Costumes pack 2013

Post by WallyB »

Hi, I have recently started helping my nephew with Muvizu. He loves it but has run into a problem. He is using 2013.10.28.01 and recently tried to install the costumes pack from the Content menu. This apparently installed the wrong version which trashed the installation so I had to reinstall. This is how I got involved. A second attempt also trashed Muvizu - scenes can no longer load.

After some investigation it appears that the wrong costume pack is being downloaded. The extra costumes look great, so is there a way to download the correct costume pack? - I assume it would be 'Costumes_2013.10.28.01R.exe'.

Thanks for your help,
Rob.

I've always used this costume pack without problems, but I don't know which version it is exactly:

It's the last official one from Digimania, and the link is to my OneDrive account. Can't hurt to try it :)

Hi Ziggy, thanks for the link! I tried the 'costumes.exe' you have, but it had the same effect :(. Among other things, it stopped scenes loading and when I checked the menus, the costumes were not showing up. The packs seem to have to be the same version as Muvizu.

On the plus side, I downloaded the extracted costumes you have, converted them to PNG with a transparent background and I was able to use them by importing them as a custom texture via the 'Decals' tab :) .

So we are now happily playing with our new costumes! Even so, as the completist nerd that I am :) , I would still like to find a costumes pack for v1.2 - 2013.10.28.01R.

Thanks again,
Rob.

P.S.

I have since discovered that even though the 'Import->open' dialog box does not show tga files, if you choose to view 'all files', they can be selected and loaded :).

That is such an annoying little oversight, not showing TGA files even though the program supports them. Not sure what's going on with the costumes pack for you though, that's one of the few areas of Muvizu I've never had an issue with (ironically enough). Have you tried reinstalling the full version? It does have the costumes inside as part of the install, along with the other free add ons.

The reason I'm looking at version 1.2 (2013.10.28.01R) is that it's a very good piece of free software for an introduction to 3D animation because:

1) The trial does not expire.
2) All the sets and characters are available.
3) 1280x720 is available as video output.
4) ASE 3D models can be imported.

The only con is the watermark, which for teaching purposes is not a problem.

The closest version I still have is v1_3 (28-10-13). Would that work, you think?
