Hi Kico,

As far as I know, muvizu converts all imported textures to 1024 x 1024. So it actually doesn't matter how big you make it.

Best format is 2048 x 512 (4:1 ratio). It produces less quality issues (meaning transversal deformation).
Good sky pictures are HDR textures specifically worked for domes texturing. Look at https://www.hdri-hub.com/media/k2/galle ... allery.jpg

Hi Rod,

If I import an 2048 x 512, muvizu makes it 1024 x 512. If you hover over the image in the slot, it says that.

Hi Ikes

I was only speaking about what Muvizu wiki page says, althought it was my personal feeling too. Look at Resources - Aspect ratios of backdrops and the Skydome in wiki pages.

Another strange thing is that is possible to modify one Muvizu config xml that contains maximum allowed texture size to up 4096 px ( Unreal 3 engine allows that). I have done that once but I could not confirm that was working in Muvizu. I think digimania used as 1024 px default for most textures due to performance issues in low level pcs.

I'm not in my pc now and i don't remember xml file name but if you open xml config files you will find it.

Muvizu is a game and most engines require dimensions to be in powers of two: 2,4,8,16,3164,128,256,512,1024,2048,4096. Other engines may not require it, but an off-sized image can potentially harm performance. It depends how far texture is from camera. Engines always change textures size acoording needs.

What is shown in the slots could not be always true.
